MEXICO CITY, Mexico (AP) -- Officials have said a Mexican federal police intelligence analyst has been killed in an apparent armed robbery attempt outside his home in the capital.
Robert Velasco Bravo was shot in the head when assailants tried to steal his car, a Public Safety department official said. He died in a hospital Thursday night.
The official said authorities did not believe Velasco Bravo was targeted because of his work.
Mexico has suffered a wave of organized crime and drug-related violence that killed more than 2,500 people last year alone.
