Once these laws go into effect, 12 states and the District of Columbia will allow same-sex couples to wed. The <a href='http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/27/us/scotus-pending-rulings'>U.S. Supreme Court</a> is expected to hand down decisions in June in two same-sex marriage cases.
