Pleasant Hill, Iowa CNN  —

A cold front and possible snowstorm was bearing down on central Iowa Monday night, but it would take more than weather to stop 102-year-old Ruline Steininger from caucusing.

Steininger, who was born seven years before women were granted the right to vote, has participated in twenty presidential elections, and has always supported Democrats. And with the possibility that Hillary Clinton could become the first woman in the White House, Steininger is making certain she does what she can to help.

“In my second century, I look forward to seeing a woman president,” she wrote recently in a letter sent to the Clinton campaign. “I’m trying to live long enough to vote in the November election.”

On Monday evening, Steininger’s son, Stephen, drove her to Spring Hill Elementary School, where she participated in the two-hour process. Steininger, who met Clinton last week during a visit to Grand View University in Des Moines, was one of 98 people who sat in Clinton’s corner of the school gym.

“I hope Hillary appreciates all this,” she said as she walked down a flight of stairs at the school. “It wasn’t easy.”

Steininger will turn 103 in April, but her primary goal is to vote in the general election.

“The chances are high that my vote will be absent,” in November, she wrote to friends in her Christmas card. “After giving this problem much serious thought and consideration, I have come to the decision that I must live to do my part November 2016, I can die later!”

After CNN reported on Steininger, Clinton responded to her on Twitter, adding a link to the story.

“Ruline, this means the world to me. http://hrc.io/1QatzFY -H,” she said.
