Think again. It’s clear that Disney Cruise Line dominated the 2016 Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards announced Wednesday, winning in 11 categories across three ships.
Disney Dream won for “best cruises overall,” “best cruise ship cabins,” “best entertainment,” “best public rooms,” “best service,” and “best for families” in the large ship category.
Disney Fantasy won for “dining,” “best embarkation” and “best fitness and recreation” in the large ship category, while Disney Wonder won for “best entertainment” and “best service” in the midsize category.
The awards are based on consumer reviews and ratings by members of the Cruise Critic website.
“The Cruisers’ Choice Awards serve as a true stamp of approval from cruisers,” said Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor in chief of Cruise Critic. “With hundreds of ships reviewed each year by thousands of cruisers, the winners of these awards stand as the absolute best of the best.”
Three Oceania ships won five awards, including three for the Oceania Riviera’s “best public rooms,” “best fitness and recreation” and “best cabins” in the midsize category.
The new ship Viking Star won for “best cruise ship for first timers.”
Carnival Freedom was named “best value for money” in the large ship category.
The awards are bestowed in three ship categories, based on passenger capacity. Large ships carry 2,000 or more passengers, midsize ships carry 1,200 to 1,999 passengers, and small ships carry fewer than 1,200.
