Reba Nell McEntire is born into a family that lives on a cattle ranch in Chockie, a town with a population of 18 in the misty, rocky hills of southeastern Oklahoma.

While in high school, Reba sings with her siblings in a family group - the Singing McEntires - performing at football games, pep rallies and country music festivals. Her older brother, Pake, is lead singer.

The 19-year-old who loves barrel racing is discovered by recording artist Red Steagall when she sings the National Anthem at a rodeo in Oklahoma City.

One of Reba's first singles, "I Don't Want to be a One Night Stand" reaches No. 88 on the country music charts; she marries 31-year-old cattle roper Charlie Battles at a Baptist church in Stringtown, Oklahoma.

Reba's album, "Reba McEntire," is released, and she makes her debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
