SUMMARY:
In late April 2004, the Bush-Cheney campaign began running these 30-second ads criticizing Sen. John Kerry's national defense record. The campaign produced separate, if nearly identical spots tailored to specific states -- and, specifically, the weapons systems, aircraft and other military gear produced therein. The commercials' punch line -- "John Kerry's record ... troubling" -- echoes language from other Bush ads attacking Kerry on the economy and other issues.
