DAY 3 - Wednesday July 28, 2004

Declaring that "hope is on the way," John Edwards -- North Carolina senator and running mate of John Kerry -- delivered an impassioned and populist pitch on the third day of the convention for Democrats to retake the White House this fall. Americans "can embrace the politics of hope, the politics of what's possible," he told a boisterous crowd. "Because this is America, where everything is possible." Edwards praised Kerry as a tested military leader and ready to take command of the nation. "Nothing makes me prouder than standing with him in this campaign," he said. Earlier in the night, the Rev. Al Sharpton delivered an energizing speech, proclaiming "Read my lips, our vote is not for sale."
