Results: Clinton wins Democratic caucuses | Romney gets GOP boost
  • Sen. Hillary Clinton claimed her second win of the presidential race with solid backing from Latino voters and women.
  • Although Clinton won the overall state vote, Sen. Barack Obama took more delegates because of the areas where he won. CNN projects that Obama will pick up 13 delegates to Clinton's 12.
  • Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards was a distant third.
  • In the Republican contest, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney swept to victory with support from conservatives, late deciders and veterans.
  • Rep. Ron Paul edged out Sen. John McCain to take second place among Republicans, ahead of former Sen. Fred Thompson and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
  • California Rep. Duncan Hunter, who received just 2 percent of the GOP vote, abandoned his presidential bid after the results came in.

Caucus Process
The Nevada Democratic and Republican parties will each host a number of local party meetings -- or caucuses -- across the state on January 19. On the Democratic side, caucus-goers will break up into groups at the meetings according to whom they support for president. Based on those groupings, each precinct will send a number of delegates to the next step in a series of conventions, culminating in the national convention in Denver, Colorado. Republican caucus-goers will also start the process of selecting delegates for their national convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, but they will also vote for their candidate in a presidential preference poll.
