NEW YORK (CNN) -- Ever since his "Pulp Fiction" comeback, it seems like actor John Travolta has been popping up everywhere. His newest movie, "Michael," opened this week, and more films starring Travolta are on the way.

His workload is heavy, but Travolta isn't complaining. "Don't forget, I'm getting offered the best scripts in Hollywood and I wasn't always offered the best scripts in Hollywood, so I'm taking advantage of a moment that's stellar in my personal life and career."

In "Michael," he plays an angel who comes to Earth to party a little bit. As he explains, Michael is not the kind of angel we're used to. "You know, it's such a hilarious contrast to what we imagine an angel to be like," Travolta said. "So this whole, he's not a saint but he's still a good guy and he's got a job to do, appealed to me initially. If I can make that funny, I know how to do that."

When a tabloid gets wind of the archangel story, it sends in a team of reporters to get the scoop on Michael. Soon, angel and scribes are on the road together. The cast was genuinely friendly, Travolta said.

"We had a lot of genuine laughs on and off the screen, and really enjoyed each others' company. And everyone's very bright, that group is an intelligent group and you could get into decent conversations and indecent conversations and hilarious conversations. It was a lot of fun."

Even more fun, Michael got to spread his wings on the dance floor, as only John Travolta can do. Although the media and fans often make a big deal out of Travolta dance numbers, the star says dancing is just his niche. "It's part of what I've been famous for all these years," he said, much as other actors are known for their physical abilities. "Because I enjoy it, it acts as a contagion and people like to join in on it."

In real life, he doesn't get onto the dance floor that often -- he goes to the Rainbow Room once a year with his wife for ballroom dancing.
