'ER' brings in new bloodLOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Alan Alda is going to have brush up on his medical lingo. The actor who played Capt. "Hawkeye" Pierce on the hit series "M*A*S*H" is planning to join the cast of "ER," a change that NBC hopes will invigorate the drama's ratings. The show has slipped a bit since the departure this spring of George Clooney. Alda won't be the only new face: both Rebecca DeMornay and Maura Tierney are expected to join him at County General Memorial Hospital. DeMornay has signed on with an initial five-episode story arc, according to production insiders on the Warner Bros.-produced hit.
Jagger is a new dad, spokesman confirmsLONDON (CNN) -- Mick Jagger's spokesman has confirmed that blood tests prove the Rolling Stones singer is the father of Brazilian model Luciana Morad's son. "I'm happy to confirm that -- the blood test was positive," Jagger's spokesman, Bernard Doherty, told The Associated Press. This means Morad, 29, may seek child support from the 56-year-old rocker for 3-month-old Lucas Morad Jagger, born in May. Jagger had refused to acknowledge paternity publicly. Former model Jerry Hall, Jagger's partner for 22 years, ended their relationship over Morad's pregnancy.
Posh Spice to wedding guests: Return silver gobletsLONDON (CNN) -- Manchester United soccer star David Beckham and Spice Girl Victoria "Posh" Adams are asking their wedding attendees to return the silver. The new Mrs. Beckham tells The Mirror that guests at the wedding, which was held at an Irish castle earlier this month, took home 75 solid silver goblets as souvenirs, evidently looking for some kind of keepsake after they were denied the privilege of photographing the newlywed couple. The couple had rented the goblets -- worth thousands of dollars -- for the big day. "It's a bit embarrassing," Victoria tells the U.K. tabloid. "It's flattering that people took them as a memento but we'd only hired them and it seems they are quite valuable," she says. "So if anyone has them, please give them back. You can keep the velvet napkin rings."
Scorsese weds wife No. 5NEW YORK (CNN) -- U.S. film director Martin Scorsese got hitched to book editor Helen Morris in New York last week, a spokesman for Scorsese says. It was his fifth marriage, her second. Morris worked with Scorsese on a companion book to his 1997 movie "Kundun," about Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama. Other Scorsese hits include "Taxi Driver" (1976), "Raging Bull" (1980) and "Goodfellas" (1990). No details of the marriage were made public, at Scorsese's request. Only a one-line statement was released. It read: "Martin Scorsese and Helen Morris were married Thursday, July 22, in New York City."
Duchovny, Cain lose autograph caseLOS ANGELES (CNN) -- An appeal is on the docket for David Duchovny, of "The X-Files," and Dean Cain, of "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman." The actors have lost a lawsuit against Truly Unique Collectibles, an Internet firm that sells signed celebrity photographs. They accused the company of selling phony signatures of the actors. The company denied the charges and the judge ruled the allegations were groundless. "We've always sold a legitimate product, so naturally, I feel exonerated. We took on Superman and won," Truly Collectibles president James Ferrazzano says. Truly Unique Collectibles was selling Duchovny's signed photo for $50. More pricey photos include Sean Connery ($95), Mel Gibson ($110) and the Spice Girls ($150). The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.
