Eastern European trimming is key to Jill Stuart's spring![]() February 10, 1999 Web posted at: 2:29 p.m. EST (1129 GMT) From Style Correspondent Elsa Klensch NEW YORK (CNN) -- The charm and detailing of traditional Eastern European peasant costumes is infulential in the spring/summer collection of designer Jill Stuart. Her clothes are feminine, and she says they are even a little "sugar and spice and everything nice." "I made a trip about two months ago to Prague and I've always wanted to go there for a while," Stuart says. "I was fascinated by all the national costumes and the fabrics and the embroideries."
The spring collection includes silk organzas, cashmere and light-weight felt fabric. Colors are basically black and white with a little variation. "There's white, but there's lots of these creamy, almost yellowy vanillas," Stuart says. "Vanilla and tomato is one of my favorite combinations."
