| Breaking News10 People Trapped Inside World Trade Center ElevatorAired August 11, 2000 - 9:46 a.m. ETTHIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Once again, I want to update the latest we have out of the World Trade Center, southern part of the island of Manhattan. Apparently 10 people now were indeed trapped inside of an elevator there. It is believe that 6 of the 10 have suffered minor injuries. No reason given for why that elevator lurched earlier today, about 8:30 a.m. Eastern time, that is about an hour and 16 minutes ago. But the firefighters have responded to the scene. The power to the elevator has been shut off. But other elevators inside the Two World Trade Center, one of two there in New York, continue to be working properly. Victims being removed at this time to another elevator through side panels apparently. That is the world from the fire department. That is what we know right now. But apparently things should turn out a OK there in New York. TO ORDER A VIDEO OF THIS TRANSCRIPT, PLEASE CALL 800-CNN-NEWS OR USE OUR SECURE ONLINE ORDER FORM LOCATED AT www.fdch.com |
