DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We have breaking news out of Southern California, out of Culver City, just very close to the area of Los Angeles International Airport. Apparently some gunman broke in to a Target department store earlier today and started holding a number of employees hostage, employees that were getting ready to open that store for business.
Showing you live pictures right now from KTLA, that Culver City Police Department squad car on the back side of that store.
Different reports throughout the morning. In fact, we had Culver City Police on just a few minutes ago. They are still not completely clear on all the details here. They believe, at one point, they were dealing with three or four different gunmen inside the store, as many as 40 or 50 employees also inside the store.
A number of those employees have a;ready come out of store. The problem and the question, in trying to determine who is a good guy and who is a bad guy, there was early reports that the gunmen could have been wearing the same clothing as Target employees, making it very difficult for police to decipher who might be a suspect and who might be a hostage.
So they are bringing people out of that building very slowly and actually frisking each person as they come out to make sure that they are not armed and not a part of the problem.
We have been in touch with Culver City Police Department. We will checking back, keeping you up with the latest on the situation in Culver City.
