THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: We have another story we are following here. It concerns a 911 call placed to the Atlanta Police Department from the home of John and Patsy Ramsey. Those are the parents are Jon Bennett Ramsey. That happened just a short while ago.
And CNN's Art Harris went to the home to find out what happened after that call was placed.
What did you find out, Art?
ART HARRIS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Lou, I am standing outside the very exclusive home of Jon Bonette's father, John Ramsey, Patsy Ramsey, just on the Eretus River in northwest Atlanta, where at about 11:00 this morning, John Ramsey placed a 911 call to the Atlanta police.
He confronted a burglar inside the house, a tall, about six foot, light-skinned black male carrying a couple of bags. Asked him who he was. The add-in identification wasn't satisfied. Said he was going to call the police.
In which time, the assailant attacked Ramsey, apparently punched him, overcame him and locked him in the bathroom of the two-story Mediterranean-style home.
Shortly after Ramsey finally got out of the bathroom, was able to call the police, and spotted the burglar leaving the house in a gray Chevy Cavalier outside.
Shortly afterwards, the Atlanta Deputy police chief, C. B. Jackson, gave this description as to what the police knew at that moment.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEP. CHIEF C.B. JACKSON, ATLANTA POLICE: We have a vague description of neither Mr. Ramsey certain that they will be able to identify this person if he sees him again. So we are in the process of getting some things together. We will do a composite later today. Of course, you know, we are looking for some other evidence in the house that might lead to this person's identity. So...
QUESTION: Never any sign of any weapon?
JACKSON: Well, Mr. Ramsey has a gun vault, and we suspect that some weapons were taken. Again...
QUESTION: Did he use weapons on Mr. Ramsey?
JACKSON: No, no. Again, you know, we are doing an inventory, so we don't know everything that was taken. But we suspect some weapons were taken.
QUESTION: How did this guy get away?
JACKSON: Well, he locked Mr. Ramsey in the bathroom, and he drove off.
QUESTION: Do you know how he got in?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HARRIS: Mr. Ramsey, after getting out, was able to contact police. His wife showed up about an hour later from her bible study class at a Presbyterian church in northwest Atlanta, looking apparently distraught. Mr. Ramsey is described by friends and neighbors as shaken but not seriously injured. He is expected later to go downtown, look at composites, photos to see if he can identify the possible suspect.
Art Harris reporting live for CNN, outside the Ramsey home in northwest Atlanta.
WATERS: All right, and Art will continue to follow the story.
