DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We want to get back to the breaking news story that is happening right here in United States, and that is the search right now going on for a 6-year-old girl in a suburb of St. Louis. Her name is K.C. Williamson.

We have with us on the phone right now Bob Frohne. He is with the St. Louis County Police Department.

Bob, thanks for joining us. What can you tell us about the search for this darling little girl?

BOB FROHNE, ST. LOUIS COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT: We know she has been missing since approximately 7:00 this morning. The parents conducted a quick search themselves when they realized she wasn't in the house. They notified us about 7:30, and then we got as many people out as we possibly could in the beginning. They have gone house to house, checking with her friends. She is not inside playing Playstation or anything. And absent anything of that nature, where she has gone to a friend's or another relative's house, we have called in everybody we possibly can. We are going to assume the worst right now.

They are about a quarter of a mile from the Merrimac River, so that's a concern. Our department has two helicopters up. We've got one of our (UNINTELLIGIBLE) squads, one of our community action team squads is out there, plus numerous regular patrol officers. And we've brought in a team of bloodhounds to look for too.

And at this point in time, we don't have any additional information to report.

KAGAN: So where was the last time K.C. was seen?

FROHNE: Approximately 7:00 this morning, by her parents.

KAGAN: And it was in the house.

FROHNE: Correct.

KAGAN: So they just left the room, and when somebody came back in, then she was just simply gone.

FROHNE: She wasn't there, right.

KAGAN: Do they describe her as a girl who would just take off on her own?

FROHNE: Pardon me?

KAGAN: Do they describe K.C. as a little girl would just take off on her own, who would just leave the house?

FROHNE: OK, I wasn't given that much information on the little girl. I'm not sure how her habits were around the house. But they did check locally to make sure she wasn't in a neighbor's home playing with any of the other children in neighborhood. And she was not there.

KAGAN: Bob, you say you assume the worst right now and kind of pulling out all the stops to help find her, but I notice on the wires that police so far are staying away from words like "abduction."

FROHNE: You can't say for certain. We have ruled out all the expected things: She is not unhappy at home, she wouldn't run away, they didn't have an argument with any siblings or the parents, she has never done anything like this. For a 6-year-old, she does pretty much what her parents say. Once we can rule out those type of reasons for her not being there, then you just have to start working towards a worst-case scenario, that we have to expand the search and look for other methods to find her.

KAGAN: There was some mention, a wire, of a search also for a homeless man who was spotted in the area.

FROHNE: There is a fellow that has been seen in the area. He was last seen this morning about 7:15, 7:30. We are looking for him. We don't have a true name on the fellow, but all the searchers have a description of him, and we are looking for him solely because he was in the area and he hasn't been seen since the little girl, this little K.C., was reported missing.

KAGAN: I want to go ahead and put her picture up one more time and we'll give a description so folks can keep an eye out: adorable little girl; she's 6 years old, Bob; 4 feet tall, 48 pounds, long blonde hair; and was last seen wearing a white nightgown.

FROHNE: That is correct.

KAGAN: Anything you can add to that description?

FROHNE: At this point in time, no.

KAGAN: All right, the search goes on. We'll let you go. Very important work ahead of you and your police department. Bob Frohne from St. Louis County Police Department, the search on for this little 6-year-old girl reported missing about 7:00 this morning central time.
