A truck bomb detonates after crashing through the lobby of a Hilton Hotel in Taba, Egypt, yards from the Israeli border. The explosion shears off the outer rooms from a 10-story wing of the hotel. About two hours later, two other bombs explode in camping areas in Ras al Sultan and Tarabeen. The three blasts kill more than 29 people and injure more than 120. Three groups claim responsibility for the attacks, with one saying it is linked to al Qaeda.
