Bentley has revealed a pop art designed car that will go up for auction in June

The car is a collaborative project with legendary British artist Peter Blake

Godfather of British pop art Peter Blake has teamed up with Bentley Motors to create a unique Continental GT V8 S Convertible to be auctioned for charity.

The legendary artist, who designed the sleeve for The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album in 1967, worked closely with Bentley’s craftspeople in the bespoke Mulliner division to bring the design to life.

The car will be auctioned by Bonhams at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 24 and all funds raised will be donated to the Care2Save Charitable Trust.

“I am proud to have been involved with transforming this beautiful car, and have enormous admiration for the people at Bentley who brought my design into being, to produce this one-off lovely car,” said Blake.

The most striking feature of the car, instantly recognizable as a Blake trademark, is a St James Red heart motif hand-painted onto the Bentley’s Yellow bonnet – a symbol representing the compassionate work of hospices.

St Luke’s Blue, a bespoke color introduced by Blake and named in homage to Bentley’s local St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice, dominates the car’s rear haunches, doors and boot lid.

The Bentley’s lower body is painted British Racing Green, it has a Fuchsia pink-colored radiator shell and the hood is black.

Inside, each leather seat has been trimmed in a different color; Cumbrian Green, Imperial Blue, Newmarket Tan and Hotspur. The same colors are echoed on the sports steering wheel.

The vivid pink leather gear lever stands out against the center console, dashboard and interior door panels, all veneered by Bentley’s skilled artisans in Piano Black.

Blake’s signature is incorporated onto the fascia panel and embroidered on all four seat headrests, while the distinctive treadplate is labelled ‘No 1 of 1’.

And one final, unique touch - there’s even a personalized playlist of Blake’s favorite music.
