The state of the economy is often viewed through the lens of broad economic indicators like unemployment or consumer spending.

But those numbers don’t tell the whole story. People experience the economy’s health through their jobs, grocery lists, housing costs, gas prices, 401(k)s, credit cards and medical bills.
