The search for survivors in Florida continues after Hurricane Ian decimated coastal towns. After devastating Florida, Hurricane Ian made landfall near Georgetown, South Carolina as a Category 1 storm. At least 45 people have died in Florida as search and rescue efforts continue in the hardest hit areas. NOAA imagery shows many beach cottages on Sanibel Island completely wiped away by the intense storm surge. Sanibel’s Mayor Holly Smith tells AC360 how extensive the damage is on the island.
