• Dianne Gallagher is a CNN National Correspondent based in Atlanta.

    In her first assignment with CNN, Gallagher was sent to Paris, France to cover the November 2015 terror attacks and manhunts that followed. In 2016, Gallagher reported from Orlando, Florida on the Pulse Nightclub massacre where 49 people were killed. That same year, she covered multiple police-involved shootings and accompanying protests in cities across America. She spent a week reporting live from Dallas, Texas after five officers were shot and killed at a protest there.  Gallagher reported live from Louisville, Kentucky on the funeral of boxing legend and humanitarian Muhammad Ali.  When former Cuban leader Fidel Castro died, Gallagher flew to Cuba to follow the burial ceremonies and talk to people there about what his death means for Cuba's future.  Gallagher spent most of 2016 on the campaign trail, going to caucuses, primaries, debates and party conventions all across the United States. She was in the room, reporting live, when Donald Trump was declared the winner of the election.

    Gallagher joined CNN Newsource from WCNC in Charlotte, North Carolina where she was a lead reporter and morning anchor. While at WCNC, she received several awards for her work on security issues in Charlotte, as well as the FBI investigation into and subsequent arrest of the city's mayor. While covering the state General Assembly, she covered often controversial laws passed on Voter ID, abortion, same sex marriage and government power. Working in a battleground state, and the site of the 2012 Democratic National Convention, she spent much of 2012 covering the presidential election. 

    She began her career as an anchor and reporter at CN2 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

    The daughter of a U.S. Army General, Gallagher spent her childhood moving from country to country. She speaks six languages, including Arabic, German, Italian and Spanish.
