What we know about the Milwaukee Coors complex shooting

Five people were killed when a gunman opened fired at the Molson Coors complex in Milwaukee this afternoon.

Here's what we know about the shooting:

  • The victims: The five victims were employees at Molson Coors, Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales told reporters this afternoon. The shooting happened at about 2:08 p.m. local time (3:08 p.m. ET).
  • The suspect: The shooter was a 51-year-old Milwaukee man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Morales added.
  • Condolences shared: President Trump, speaking at a news conference this evening, shared his condolences for the families of those who were killed, calling the incident a "terrible thing." Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers said, "Our hearts go out to the families of those whose lives were senselessly taken, all of the folks and workers at Molson Coors, and the Milwaukee community as we grapple with yet another act of gun violence that will have long-lasting consequences for this community and our state."
  • Mass shootings in Wisconsin: Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes said the incident at the Molson Coors complex is the 11th mass shooting in the state since 2004. “I want to issue a call, a challenge, because we shouldn’t accept this…we should never grow comfortable in the face of these repeated tragedies,” Barnes said. “We have a duty to act."

Milwaukee mayor: "This is a tragic day for our city"

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett called the shooting at the Molson Coors complex a "horrific act."

“This is a tragic day for our city, this is a tragic day for our state. Five families, six families actually, are grieving and will be grieving because of this horrific act of this individual," Barrett said during a news conference.

What we know: Six people, including the shooter, have died following a shooting in Milwaukee this afternoon, according to Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales.

The five victims were employees at Molson Coors, the chief said. The suspect was a 51-year-old Milwaukee man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, he added.

1,000 people were working at the time of the shooting

More than 1,000 employees were working at the time of the incident, but no other people were injured, Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales said at a news conference today.

Morales said the next update will be after 10 p.m. ET when Molson Coors leadership arrives from out of town.

Earlier this afternoon: The Molson Coors beer-brewing company was forced to cut short a conference in Houston, Texas, today after receiving news of the shooting.

6 dead, including shooter, in Milwaukee, police say

Six people, including the shooter, have died following a shooting in Milwaukee this afternoon, according to Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales.

The five victims were employees at Molson Coors, the chief said.

The suspect was a 51-year-old Milwaukee man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, he added.

Morales said they received a report about a shooting at the Molson Coors complex at 2:08 p.m. local time (3:08 p.m. ET). There is no threat at this time, but law enforcement will continue to investigate throughout the night, Morales said.

"No other individuals were injured," Morales said. "It's a terrible day for Milwaukeeans."

Wisconsin governor says today's shooting "will have long-lasting consequences"

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers tweeted a statement describing the incident at the Molson Coors complex as a mass shooting.

Evers said Milwaukee is grappling with “yet another act of gun violence that will have long-lasting consequences for this community and our state.”

"Our hearts go out to the families of those whose lives were senselessly taken, all of the folks and workers at Molson Coors, and the Milwaukee community as we grapple with yet another act of gun violence that will have long-lasting consequences for this community and our state," Evers tweeted.

Molson Coors conference in Houston cut short after deadly shooting

The Molson Coors beer-brewing company was forced to cut short a conference in Houston, Texas, today after receiving news of a deadly shooting that happened at its Milwaukee headquarters this afternoon.

What we know: Mayor Tom Barrett told reporters that several people, including the shooter, have died at the Molson Coors complex in Milwaukee.

Wisconsin attorney general shares his condolences

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul tweeted following the incident at Molson Coors.

"This is gut-wrenching. My heart goes out to Molson Coors employees, their families, and the entire Milwaukee community. The DOJ Division of Criminal Investigation is on the scene and will continue assisting local law enforcement with whatever they need," Kaul tweeted.

Trump on shooting: "Our hearts break for them and their loved ones"

President Trump, speaking at a news conference this evening, shared his condolences for the families of those who were killed in today's shooting in Milwaukee.

"We send other condolences, we'll be with them. And it is a terrible thing. Terrible thing. So our hearts go out to the people of Wisconsin and to the families," he said.

Former White House chief of staff shares his condolences

Former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus tweeted his condolences to the victims involved in the incident in Milwaukee this afternoon.

“Very sad news out of Wisconsin and Molson Coors. God Bless the people of Milwaukee. Let’s pray for all of the victims, police, medical personnel and everyone impacted by this tragedy," he tweeted.
